A Mighty Heart and a Reminder
I got around to watching the movie, A Mighty Heart, yesterday, starring Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl, the wife of Daniel Pearl, who was so brutally murdered by Al Qaeda in Pakistan.
One should never confuse events as portrayed in an entertainment movie with real life; even so, I think this movie should serve as a reminder – particularly to those Democrats and other liberals who are so freely throwing around their advice and criticisms of our policy regarding this complex country and its huge problems. I am thinking, in particular, of Senator Obama who would immediately withdraw from Iraq, but would invade Pakistan.
This large, Muslim country, teeming with very poor people and an incredible mixture of ancient customs, cross-currents of intrigue and millions of cell-phones seems almost ungovernable. Pakistan’s president, Pervez Musharraf, came up through the officer ranks in Pakistan’s military and received many awards for bravery. In 1999 he assumed power in a bloodless military coup when the previous military ruler attempted to oust him from his post. He has survived many coup and assassination attacks against him to remain in power.
In the movie and in real life, Daniel Pearl, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, was kidnapped by Islamic terrorists as he attempted to go to a pre-arranged interview. After several terrifying and totally confusing days of investigation and manhunt, his brutalized body was found dumped in a cemetery; he had been decapitated.
This movie should also remind us all (together with the recent, equally brutal murder of Benazir Bhutto) that we continue to live in a very dangerous world that contains Islamic Jihadist barbarians who have no qualms about killing people if they disagree with their religion or their culture.

I'm sure that this would fall on deaf ears with the likes of spineless Democratic Party members such as Harry Reid, Jack Murtha, and Dick Durbin, who would rather surrender to the terrorist than fight them. I wounder how much money they all receive from Code Pink and the ACLU? They may get their way if Hillary or Osama Obama gets in, but at what cost? As much as I dislike and distrust McCain, I'd have to pick him over any one of those two inept Demo political hacks. Although, Obama may find favor with these Islamo head-choppers. After all, his middle name is Hussein and he has a problem with saluting the American flag at ceremonies. (I'm going to hit a nerve with that last one,-- I know it!) LOL
Joe, the sentiments RussWilcox expressed here are those that most Americans would agree with. Why do you find it necessary to attack Democrats who have expressed no contrary opinions? It's divisive and uncalled for. None of the three men you mentioned has ever suggested surrendering to terrorism.
The nerve you succeeded in hitting is the truth nerve. You and your fellow wing nuts have no regard for it. You continue to lie about candidates using the Joseph Goebbels approach.... Tell a big lie and repeat it often enough and some people will believe it. You call the terrorists Islamofascists, but you continue to use fascist techniques yourself.
